The dwarf bottlebrush has red flowers and blooms off and on all year. They attract hummingbirds and butterflies. The dwarf bottlebrush may look delicate, but they will do good in full sun and even cold weather. They are perfect for small spaces. They are sometimes hard to find.
The dwarf bottlebrush is a slower grower. They require full to part sun to be the best they can be. This plant grows to about 3 feet tall and 5 feet wide. You can keep them smaller with a bit of light trimming. They are cold hardy so they do fine anywhere in South Florida. They are considered to be salt tolerant and deer resistant.
You will want to add top soil to the hole when you plant for best results. They can be trimmed anytime to shape. Since they are a slow grower there is no need for hard pruning. After about a year they are somewhat drought tolerant, but they still need regular watering. Fertilize 3 times a year with a granular fertilizer. Feedings with bone meal will give them heavier blooms.
Plant about 2-1/2 to 3 feet apart. If you are planting them next to the house come out about 3 feet. They work excellent in containers or planters.
